So in church I was thinking that I needed to blog. I thought of what I was going to say and I was pleased. I was going to come home and write an exceptional blog post. But, then I fell asleep for 4 hours and.. Oops, it must have left my mind.
So hello from Annecy. For just a little while longer. What do you mean you ask? Well, I leave Annecy on Wednesday, Mercredi. My flight leaves from Paris on Thursday morning. Sad you say? Precisely.
I have loved my time here. I love this city and I think I will always cherish my time here. I will miss hearing sirens, and wondering if they have passed or if they are just still ringing in my ears. I swear they just have sirens for fun.
I learned on Saturday that when they have a wedding here, they follow the procession if you will, and everyone honks as they drive through the town. Semi annoying to bystanders but kinda fun I would think.
So real fast, what have I been up too since my last post? Well the next day, after I blogged, we went to Geneva, Switzerland. It is like 40 minutes away via tiny car. Like 1.5 hours away via bus that was 10 euros each way. Since we are lacking in the tiny car department we took option 2. We met at the gare (train station) that morning. Had a brief panic when we thought we needed our passports and none of us had them on hand. But we decided to wing it and if we got kicked out of Switzerland than so be it. That didn't happen, luckily, cause Switzerland is magical. I just wanted to go to say that not only have I been to France, I also went to Switzerland. A few things about Switzerland History Channel style.Meh, jk.
- There is a fountain, cleverly named "The Fountain of Water"
- Obviously there chocolate is sinful
- We were told not to go to the prostitute district and didn't intend on it, but we happened upon it and as soon as we saw those hookers we made a b-line to the nearest McDonalds.
- McDonalds, not that cheap here. 12fr for a meal? No thank you. Especially since we were wrongly told that the Swiss Franc was DOUBLE the American dollar.. glad we found that out.. After we already were home. But the McDonalds was classy. I walked in and took a picture like an Asian tourist. You had to have a code to use the bathroom.. Need I say more?
- We went to a store called "Manor". Mind blown. It was an Ikea, a Nordstroms, a Linens and Things, a Best Buy, a Harmons (I say Harmons since it is a classy grocery store), a chocolate WALL, a restaurant, a Hallmark.. gosh I don't remember them all. But it was all these stores.. Combined. Can you say power store.
- Everything is expensive. First thing I spotted was the line of buildings such as; Cartier, Lous Vuitton etc... you catch my drift.
- We love Switzerland.
I have found the heavenly ice cream combo. After much taste testing the winner is Pistachio and Nutella. Power couple. I have had a lot of ice cream here. But nothing compares to this pair.
This week went by super fast, and I leave super soon. It makes me sad. But I miss America and I am semi ready to be home, where I don't have to sit down to shower, Or not flush the toilet between 11pm-6 am. My host mother if you will is rather particular.. We wont open that can of worms.
I usually don't talk about churchly matters on this, but I just have to say. The highlight of being here has been going to church. It is just a tiny branch, but I have never felt the spirit so strong. No, I can't understand a word that goes on for the most part. But they are all so faithful, and welcoming and kind. I feel so lucky to have been able to attend while I have been here. Such a blessing.
Anyway, so I know you will miss my posts. And I will go back to a uneventful life. And miss it here and miss the simplicity of life. Then I will post and bore you all to tears once again. All you secret blog readers. If you read this, comment. Show yourselves. I know you want to.
Can't think of anything else to say... So here are some pictures.
I love you
xoxo
